the Rustic Riders
Songs of Life and Love
Original Music by Lisa Meissner
Accompanied by Klaus Meissner on Percussion and
Musical Guests on Acoustic Instruments

the Rustic Riders play original music with a traditional sensibility. Lisa Meissner’s songs explore our journey in relationship with others, our world and creation. Sometimes they get you dancing and singing; other times they invite you to pause, reflect and renew. They are filled with her experience of music from many peoples, times and places and move the spirit to new understanding. Words and tunes blend to become one.

“Hearing Hearts” Debut CD:
the Rustic Riders recorded with Dan Duggan at Esperance Productions in Red Creek. It features 13 of Lisa’s tunes. the Rustic Riders have been playing together in various combinations since 1996. Since the fall of 2006 they are playing mostly original material written by Lisa Meissner. It has been getting airplay across the US and Canada.

The Musicians:
• Lisa sings and plays guitar, but may also surprise you with traditional tunes on the cello, mandolin and bouzouki.
• Klaus Meissner plays percussion, made Lisa's guitars and lends his ear to the overall sound mix.
• Bill Chamberlain often plays with us. He is a talented multi instrumentalist playing vintage instruments who has played and recorded with musicians across the country from the Pacific Northwest to New York and New England. He has played at the International Folk Alliance and the Philadelphia folk festival.
Other guest musicians have been David Katz (bass), Jeff Couture (fiddle)

Influences:
The "Riders" influences range from traditional and spiritual music, to Classical, Latin, Jazz, Contemporary Folk and Rock. Lisa was surrounded by music as a child - her mother sang in the forties across the US and in the Pacific after the War. Her lyrics have been described as poetry in song and evolve from her life experiences with early family struggles and her career as a teacher and clinical social worker. Faith in the power of the spirit and community drive her music. Klaus grew up in a multi cultural household. His father was from Germany. His mother's family was from Puerto Rico. Latin music filled his home. Bill grew up on rock and roll but his true love is old timey music.
